First I want to say is that I should be getting a laptop soon by January 2009. I will have only $1,700 in the bank by the 3rd of January. I hopefully will be starting college by then. I would preferably like to spend less than $1,000 for the laptop itself. I will only buy HP because I have experience with them and I like what they have to offer. Also they are at least the top if not #2 rank in high reviews for computers. As for their customer service it is decent. I use computers manly to surf the internet, do research, edit photos, word processor documents, downloads off the internet, Quicken for my finances, I tend to pull up multiple applications and multi task while online, regular instant messaging (IM) and as far as games go all I play at the moment is Flight Simulator X (FSX) besides the occasional online games on the internet like pop it (pogo.com). I may be interested in playing Dead Space and Fear 2 and have read the reviews on them. I enjoy playing fighter pilot games, do you have any to suggest? Links for both laptops are listed at the end. As well as all the software I will be purchasing to put on it. Yes I did the reviews for antivirus, internet security and spyware software. Extended HP warranty as well as printer and laptop carrying case are listed also. All prices include shipping and tax. There is a $266 difference between the total prices. The first laptop is an HP dv6885se (Special Edition) It is originally $1,150 at Best Buy but now as of December 2, 2008 it is $976.23 this includes shipping and tax. It is not available in stores and is now marked as an Outlet item. So I am not sure how much longer it will be available for. This laptop was made in 2007. So is this laptop considered old or new when I buy it? I have seen it in person a couple months ago at Best Buy on display and I cannot get over how much it stands out compared to just a plain old laptop. The color and designs etched into it are just amazing. I have read all the reviews on it and only found one bad remark all other reviews were very positive. What are the attributes of a creative manager? “Openness, perceptiveness, flexibility, responsiveness, involvement, a capacity and willingness to draw out the creativity in others, a focus on possibilities, the potential of networking and other opportunities rather than procedure,” says Jane Henry, editor of Creative Management and Development ( www.sagepublications.com). Facilitation and communication skills help, and so does a participative and inclusive style of management, she adds. Henry heads the Centre for Human Resources and Change Management at the Open University School of Management in Milton Keynes, UK. A chartered psychologist with extensive consultancy experience, she is also the author of several books. Her research looks at ways in which organisations can develop their creativity and innovation and how individuals with different styles can best enhance their development over time. “Creative management is more about open perception than a route map, an attitude that is flexible enough to listen to others and respond intuitively to opportunities, secure enough to allow their staff freedom to find their own way. The right way of doing this will vary according to culture and circumstances,” explains Henry during a recent e-mail interaction with The New Manager. Excerpts from the interview: First, what is creative management? Creative management is a form of management associated with sustainable self-organisation. It is common in organisations wishing to engage the creativity of their workforce in improving products, processes and services, enhancing workforce commitment and customer/client/ staff satisfaction. Can creativity be developed in organisations? Are there clear measures of creativity that can be used, for example, in a corporate context? Creativity can be developed in organisations at the level of the individual, team, organisation and cross-organisation networks. Many people use tests of divergent thinking, i.e. how many uses can one think of for a plastic cup, as a measure of creativity. This is a very poor measure of creativity and not very helpful in organisations. Another approach measures people’s cognitive style differentiating between different ways of being creative — those who like to do things better and those who like to do things differently. Those with an adaptive preference are more likely to be more comfortable working within existing frames and improving existing products. Those with an innovative preference are naturally more inclined to challenge the status quo and aim for breakthroughs. Other measures of organisational creativity that have been used include the number of suggestions per employee and level of absenteeism, with the former increasing and the latter decreasing in creative companies. Have there been breakthrough findings in recent years about creative management? This depends on your perspective and location. In the West, creativity had been associated with innovative breakthroughs — inventing processes from scratch and glorified through individuals such as Einstein, Edison, Anita Roddick or Richard Branson. One of the changes in the West over the last quarter century is that organisations have come to appreciate the importance of engaging the entire workforce in improving processes and made clear attempts to empower the workforce to do so. Is increased competition the only driver for creative management? Definitely not; many creative people are motivated intrinsically, i.e. with a marked preference for working on areas of interest to them. Freedom as to how people engage with tasks is often a sufficient driver for people to develop a more creative approach. Humans are naturally very creative so long as they feel safe enough and engaged enough to bother to try out new ways of doing things. Organisational bureaucracy can sometimes get in the way of these natural instincts. What is the role of tacit knowledge in organisational creativity? Tacit knowledge is central to creativity, organisational or otherwise. Cognitive science has shown clearly that we know things long before we realise we do or are able to explain how we know. Creative ideas generally emerge tacitly, when people are relaxed. Organisations where people feel a measure of freedom, rather than those that are committee-bound and where people feel obliged to look busy, are more likely to be safe enough for people to feel able to explore the half-baked tacit notions that develop into new creative ideas with a bit of nurturing. Many processes that attempt to encourage creativity in groups use processes that aim to tap into tacit ideas. Are there lifestyle features that are associated with creativity? The socially-embedded do indeed generally report themselves as happier than the more isolated amongst us. There is some work to suggest that those in a positive mood find it easier to make more associations and that these broad associations make it easier for them to be more creative. The creatively-fulfilled tend also to be happier, not the least as their work offers meaning and often purpose. Does creativity run the risk of turning into ‘spin’ or manipulated messages one finds so commonly used by politicians to their advantage? Creativity is an essential component of human advancement through the ages. Currently it has extra kudos in the UK for example, as politicians wonder if other organisational sectors can build on the success of the creative industries (pop music, fashion, design and so on). ‘Cool Britannia’ seems to be a successful spin building on aspects of creative life in the UK. Many high-wage economies see creativity as a means of adding value in the face of increasing competition. In more hierarchical cultures there is often an appreciation that organisations might be more creative if the culture could be somewhat more open. Is creativity linked to income and wealth levels? How far is creativity relevant to developing economies, as compared to the developed countries? Do you think creative solutions can be applied for bigger problems that prevail in the developing countries? Creativity can be applied at any level from very large to very small issues and in any country. As I write, scientists all over the world are advancing new technologies to help alleviate climate change and micro-credit unions finance mini-creative ventures for very poor would-be entrepreneurs. In my work in India, Malaysia and China I have found managers as open to the idea that they need ways of opening up and pushing more responsibility down as in the West, though the form this may take can differ. I also use similar approaches advising and facilitating government officials and NGOs attempting to address large-scale issues such as corruption, for example, and when helping companies make technological breakthroughs. The key here is to free up thinking to help people reach new and better way of doing things. Are there negative states of creativity? What are the differences between creativity of nature and nurtured creativity? Should education be so geared to ensure the development of creativity? Creativity is generally defined as something that is new and apt, so inherent in the definition is the notion that the creative idea or product is not any old worthless invention but something that offers quality and answers a need. At the same time, it is no accident that Shiva is the God of creativity and destruction embodied, as one usually has to destroy something to create something new. There are win-win situations where all parties benefit from a new idea, approach or agreement; but often bringing in the new advantages may involve extra work or disadvantaging others. Shifts to greater creativity in organisations, for example, often entail middle managers giving up some of their power. Many organisations have found about 10 per cent of their managers are unable to adapt to the new ways of working. Can there be a tussle between staying the course with a sustainable idea and trying out a creative idea, as for example with product launches? Can dynamism in creativity lead to negative returns at times? Generally, to make way for something new something else has to be destroyed. We see this with new products and processes all the time; the ice selling industry lost out when home refrigerators came in, film gives way to video, analogue to digital TV. There is generally a conservative tendency in organisations and a preference for sticking with the status quo. Any creative endeavour is going to involve something new; it takes persistence and often a champion or sponsor to steer new ideas through an organisation. Historically, companies that stick with what they are good at without creatively adapting to circumstances tend to fare badly in the long-term. Socialisation, externalisation, internalisation and combination — which of these knowledge conversion modes has the highest impact on creativity? There are many different ways of being creative and different people favour different routes. For example, different people may use very different processes to get to the same creative idea, some people are more comfortable with analytical techniques like checklists and matrices, other warm to the fun involved in lateral thinking like imagining how your hero/heroine (whether Gandhi, Superman or Tata) would tackle the issue, others prefer more intuitive approaches such as visualisation. The Devil is precise/ the marks of his presence are definite as stone, and I must tell you all that I shall not proceed unless you are prepared to believe me if I should find no bruise of hell upon her." Then towards the end of act one he began to go with the crowd. He was asking people questions indicating witchcraft. Some of these leading questions inluded: to Parris "Mr. Parris, you did not notice, did you, any living thing in the kettle? A mouse, perhaps, a spider, a frog-?", to Abigail "Did you feel any strangeness when she called him? A sudden cold wind, perhaps? A trembling below the ground?", and to Tituba "When the Devil come to you does he ever come-with another person? Perhaps another person in the village? Someone you know." Then in the second act he is still being a follower. He starts working for the court and after he is sent to Rebbecca Nurse's house he goes to the Proctor's because they have been accused. To them Hale says this, "This is a strange time, Mister. no man may longer doubt the powers of the dark are gathered in monstrous attack upon this village. There is too much evidence now to deny it. you will agree, sir?" In act three, Hale's charactor changes. Instead of just thinking what everyone else beleives he realizes that the whole witch hunt is a hoax. During the hearing he says about Abigail and the other girls, "You cannot beleive them!" John tries to get the court to listen to both sides of the story and actually try to hear the facts instead of what they want to hear. You can first tell that he is starting to doubt the court when he says to Parris, "Is every defense an attack upon the court? Can no one-?" Reverend Hale also tries to get the court to allow people to have a lawyer, particularlly John Proctor. He is extremely honest during the trials and only says what is true, not what he thinks the majority wants to hear. Reverend John Hale finishes Act three as a very brave man. Once he realizes that the court is false he tries to stand up for what is right. After nobody will listen to him he leaves the court, his final statement being, "I denounce these proceedings. I quit this court!". In the end of the play he has completely turned around. Instead of helping with the witch hunt he is doing whatever he can to stop it. Not only is he trying to help those accused, but he has realized what a mistake it was serving on the court in the first place. His remorse shows when he says, "Why it is all simple. I come to do the Devil's work. I come to counsel Christians they should belie themselves. His sarcasm collapses. Ther is blood on my head! Can you not see the blood on my head!!" At the end of The Crucible, Reverend Hale is a noble man. Elizabeth Proctor goes through a transformation in The Crucible. At the beggining of the play she is very pompous . Although she is loyal to her husband, she looks down upon him because he had an affair with Abigail Williams. She thinks that she is a perfect woman. When her and John argue about the affair she says, "John, if it were not aBigail that you must go to hurt, would you falter now? I think not." and "I see what I see, John." She takes no blame for the affair at all. Also, when John Hale comes to question the family she states, "I surely do. There be no mark of blame upon my life, Mr. Hale. I am a covanted Christian woman." Towards the end of the play Goody Proctor is more humble. After spending three months in jail she had thought about the affair. She realized that if she had paid more attention to John Proctor then the never would have needed to go to Abigail. Not only that, but she thinks of Proctor as a good man instead of inferior to herself. She also recognizes that she is far from perfect. Elizabeth goes to John in the jail and says, " John, it come to naught that I should forgive you, if you'll not forgive yourself. It is not my soul, John, it is yours. Only be sure of this, for I know it now: Whatever you will do, it is a good man does it. I have read my heart this three month, John. I have sins of my own to count. It needs a cold wife to prompt lechery." and " John, I counted myself so plain, so poorly made, no honest love could come to me! Suspicion kissed you when I did; I never knew how I shold say my love. It were a cold house I kept!" Elizabeth Proctor's nature changed for the better during the coarse of the witch trials. Abigail Williams did not change at all in The Crucible. At the beginning of the play she was a complete coward. Instead of taking responsibility for her actions, she put the blame on others. When Abigail was first accused of dancing, she tried to lie about it. Then when Parris asks her why she was discharged from Goody Proctor's service, instead of telling about how she had an affair with Elizabeth's husband, she says, "She hates me, uncle, she must, for I would not be her slave. It's a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman, and I will not work for such a woman!" Once she was caught dancing in the woods, she said that someone had bewitched her and that's why she had done it. She blames the other girls, like Ruth, and Tituba for conjuring the spirits. She then tells the girls this, "Now look you. All of you. We danced. And Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam's dead sisters. And that is all. And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you...I can make you swish you had never seen the sun go down!..." Then, once she had the power and all the people of the village fearing her, she used her power to seek vengence on those that she didn't like. Abigail continues lieing throughout the entire play.In the end she leaves town. Parris goes to Danforth and Hathorne and states, "Excellency, I think they be aboard a ship. My daughter tells me how she heard them speaking of ships last week, and tonight I discover my-my strongbox broke into." At the end of The Crucible, she is as much of a cowered as she was in the beggining. Instead of admiting that she lied and spareing all of the accused peoples lives, she leaves town and steals all of Parris' money. Of all the charactors mentioned above, Reverend John Hale underwent the most extreme change. He completely turned his point of veiw around. Instead of helping the court accuse people and just going with the crowd, he understood that what everyone else was doing was wrong and stood up for what he beleived in. My Presidential Endorsement: Feb 8th 2008 5:22PM They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So why is it the American people allow our politicians to do the same things over and over and we believe them and expect results different from previous elections ? I've looked at the websites of current and previous candidates to get an understanding of their platforms. They all have positions, some of which I agree with , some of which I don't. But there is one thing that is missing from each and everyone of them, any manner of implementation. Health care, spending cuts, retaining or repealing tax cuts, keeping or removing troops, the soundbites with pretty numbers never end. Not a single candidate provides details on how exactly they are going to accomplish anything. Don't they realize that economists exists to make lottery ticket buyers look smart, not presidential candidates ? It reminds me of business plans I get from kids who tell me about their vision and project all kinds of numbers leading to grand results. They can site historical facts and figures, but when it comes time to get into details of exactly how they are going to execute on their plans, the response is basically that they will figure it out as they go. I wouldn't invest in a business that is winging it any more than I want to vote for a presidential candidate that is winging it. Unfortunately , they are all winging it. i have no question that they have every detail about how to spend their campaign contributions on advertising planned out. I have yet to see details on how they plan to accomplish all their great promises they are making to voters. That scares me. It also scares me that despite claims of not being an "insider" or wanting a different vision for America, every remaining candidate spends more energy campaigning to their party than to the issues. I got sick watching Clinton and Barack argue about who was less of a "Reaganite" during one of their few lively debate exchanges. I actually started to get a little bit excited about McCain. Then he went on the warpath to "mend his riff" with the Republican Party. I can only speak for myself, but the fact that he had a "riff" with the Republicans is exactly why i started to get excited about him. No, he hadn't presented any more details on his plans than any other candidate, but there was a glimmer of hope that he was a candidate that thought for himself. (And before all the comments start, Ron Paul is the worse of all the candidates when it comes to detailing how he would execute on his promises. Just saying you are going to cut and eliminate everything doesn't mean you know how to do it and/or could get it done.) So here we are, our country has the same problem we have every four years, our remaining candidates are politicians. They know how to spend other people's money. They know how to assign responsibility to someone else. They know how to beg for other people's money. They know how to campaign, schmooze and kiss babies. They have no earthly idea how to accomplish any of their promises. So here is my hope. My hope is that the entire primary process is just the preseason. That its nothing more than an expensive introduction to the Republican and Democratic candidates and once they have picked their winner, a wealthy individual will nominate them self to compete with the 2 parties and run for President. Are you listening Mayor Bloomberg ? For less than the cost of opening a tent pole movie, you can change the status quo . I'm not saying that I'm going to vote for you yet. again think about this for a sec.......... According to most Christians, Jesus was God-incarnate, fully man and fully God. Can the finite and the infinite be one? “To be fully God” means freedom from finite forms and from helplessness, and to be “full man” means the absence of divinity. 1. To be son is to be less than divine and to be divine is to be no one’s son. How could Jesus have the attributes of Sonship and divinity altogether? 2. Christians assert that Jesus claimed to be God when they quote him in John 14:9: “He that has seen me has seen the Father”. Didn’t Jesus clearly say that people have never seen God, as it says in John 5:37: “And the father himself which Has sent me, has borne witness of me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His shape“? 3. Christians say that Jesus was God because he was called Son of God, Son of Man, Messiah, and “savior”. Ezekiel was addressed in the Bible as Son of Man. Jesus spoke of “the peace makers” as Sons of God. Any person who followed the Will and Plan of God was called SON OF GOD in the Jewish tradition and in their language1. “Messiah” which in Hebrew means “God’s anointed” and not “Christ”, and “Cyrus” the person is called “Messiah” or “the anointed”. As for “savior”, in II Kings 13:5, other individuals were given that title too without being gods. So where is the proof in these terms that Jesus was God when the word son is not exclusively used for him alone? 4. Christians claim that Jesus acknowledged that he and God were one in the sense of nature when he says in John 10:30 “I and my father are one”. Later on in John 17:21-23, Jesus refers to his followers and himself and God as one in five places. So why did they give the previous “one” a different meaning from the other five “ones? 5. Is God three-in-one and one in three simultaneously or one at a time? 6. If God is one and three simultaneously, then none of the three could be the complete God. Granting that such was the case, then when Jesus was on earth, he wasn’t a complete God, nor was the “Father in Heaven” a whole God. Doesn’t that contradict what Jesus always said about His God and our God in heaven, his Lord and our Lord? Does that also mean that there was no complete god then, between the claimed crucifixion and the claimed resurrection? 7. If God is one and three at a time, then who was the God in heaven when Jesus was on earth? Wouldn’t this contradict his many references to a God in Heaven that sent him? 8. If God is three and one at the same time, who was the God in Heaven within three days between the claimed crucifixion and the claimed resurrection? 9. Christians say that: “The Father(F) is God, the Son(S) is God, and the Holy Ghost(H) is God, but the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is not the Father”. In simple arithmetic terms, if F = G, S = G, and H = G, then it follows that F = S = H, while the second part of the statement suggests that F¹ S¹ H (meaning, “not equal”). Isn’t that a contradiction to the Christian dogma of Trinity in itself? 10. If Jesus was God, why did he tell the man who called him “good master” not to call him “good” because accordingly, there is none good but his God in Heaven alone? 11. Why do Christians say that God is three-in-one and one in three when Jesus says in Mark 12:29: “The Lord our God is one Lord” in as many places as yet in the Bible? 12. If belief in the Trinity was such a necessary condition for being a Christian, why didn’t Jesus teach and emphasize it to the Christians during his time? How were those followers of Jesus considered Christians without ever hearing the term Trinity? Had the Trinity been the spinal cord of Christianity, Jesus would have emphasized it on many occasions and would have taught and explained it in detail to the people. 13. Christians claim that Jesus was God as they quote in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. This is John speaking and not Jesus. Also, the Greek word for the first occurrence of God is hotheos which means “the God” or “God” with a capital “G”, while the Greek word for its second occurrence is tontheos, which means “a god ” or “god” with a small “g”. Isn’t this dishonesty and inconsistency on the part of those translating the Greek Bible? ? Isn’t such quotation in John 1:1 recognized by every Christian scholar of the Bible to have been written by a Jew named Philo Alexandria way before Jesus and John? 14. Wasn’t the word “god” or “tontheos” also used to refer to others as well as in II Corinthians 4:4 “(and the Devil is) the god of this world” and in Exodus 7:1 “See , I have made thee (Moses ) a god to Pharaoh”? SALVATION: Christians say that “GOD lost His only son to save us”. To whom did God lose Jesus if He owns the whole universe? 15. If it was agreeable with God’s Majesty to have sons, He could have created a million sons the like of Jesus. So what is the big clear deal about this only son? 16. Why does the Bible say that Jesus wanted to die on the cross, when the one on the cross was shouting “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” according to Matthew 27:45 and Mark 15:33? 17. If God had wanted to save us, couldn’t He have done that without sacrificing Jesus? 18. God is Just, and justice requires that nobody should be punished for the sins of others nor should some people be saved by punishing other people. Doesn’t the claim that God sacrificed Jesus to save us because He was Just, contradict the definition of justice? 19. People sacrifice things they have to get something they don’t have when they can’t have both. Christians say that “God sacrificed His only son to save us”. We know that God is Almighty; to whom did He sacrifice Jesus? 20. A real sacrifice is when you can’t get back what you have offered, so what would be the big deal about such a sacrifice if God could recover the same offering (according to the Christians’ terminology)? 21. If all the Christians are saved through Jesus and are going to Heaven no matter what they do, then the teachings of Jesus are irrelevant and the definition of good and bad are also rendered irrelevant. If this is not so, then do Christians who believe in Jesus yet do not follow his teachings nor repent go to Hell? 22. How can Christians take deeds as irrelevant after becoming one when Jesus says2: “But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by the words thou shalt be justified, and by the words thou shalt be condemned”? 23. Christians say that people go to Heaven only through Jesus yet Paul says in 1 Corinthians 7:8-16 that the unbelieving husband is acceptable to God because he is united with his wife and vice versa, and their pagan children are also acceptable to God. So people can go to heaven without believing in Jesus according to this. 24. How come the Bible says that all Israel is saved although they don’t believe in Jesus? Doesn’t that contradict the claim in the Bible that the only way to heaven is through Jesus? 25. According to Christians, those who have not been baptized will go to Hell. So even the infants and babies go to Hell if not baptized, since they are born with an inherited original sin. Doesn’t this contradict the definition of justice? Why would God punish people for sins they never committed? HOLY SPIRIT: The only place in the Bible where the Paraclete was called the Holy Spirit is in John 14:26 “But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you”. What has the Holy Spirit brought or taught for the last 2000 years? 26. Christians say that the Paraclete means the Holy Spirit3. Jesus said in John 16:7-8: “If I do not go away the Paraclete will not come to you”. This could not mean the Holy spirit, since the Holy spirit was said to have been there before Jesus was even born as in Luke 1:41: “Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit”. Here, the Holy Spirit was also present during Jesus life time. So how could this fit with the condition that Jesus must go away so that the Holy Spirit will come? 27. In John 16:7-8, it says: “But if go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of Judgment”. What do “he” and “him” refer here? How come many Christians fooled people by claiming that the Holy spirit was inside them only to be converted to another religion later on? 30. Does the Holy Spirit dictate what Christians should do without choice or freedom at all or does it only guide them and they have the freedom to follow or not? 31. If the Holy Spirit dictates what Christian should do, why do Christians commit sins and make mistakes? How can you explain the conversion to other religions and atheism of many Christians? However, they reported the discovery of the empty tomb differently. * Matthew (28) and John (20) reported that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to discover the tomb. * Mark (16) reports that Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were the first to discover the empty tomb. * Mark (28) reports that there was an earthquake that removed the rock from over the tomb. He says that an angel caused it. The other gospels do not mention of an earthquake. * Matthew and Mark say that only ONE man in white clothes was sitting on the tomb when the woman arrived, and that he was an angel. * Luke says that TWO men in white clothes, who were angels, were sitting. Johns says that the two women did not meet anybody the first time they came to the tomb, but when they returned, they saw TWO people, ONE was an ANGEL, and the other was JESUS. * Matthew reports that when the guards reported this to the chief priest, the chief priest paid them a large sum of money, telling them: “You have to say that his disciples came at night and stole his body.” He claims that the soldiers took money and spread the story around and since then, the story had been circulating among the Jews until today (according to Matthew). The other gospels do not report of any such thing. 35. Which narration now is more authentic? 36. Why is the appearance of Jesus after the crucifixion taken as a proof of his resurrection when there is an explanation that he was not dead because someone else was crucified in his place when God saved Him? 37. How did Matthew know of the claimed agreement between the soldiers and the chief priest? Can’t someone say that someone paid the women a large sum of money and told them to spread the word around that Jesus rose from the dead, with the same authenticity as that of the story of Matthew? 38. Why did they believe that man in the white clothes? Why did they believe he was an angel? John’s narration is too strange, since he says that Mary did not recognize Jesus (one of the two) while talking to him, and she only recognized him when he called her by her name. 39. How does an empty tomb prove that Jesus was crucified ? Isn’t it that God is capable of removing another man from the tomb, and of resurrecting him too? 40. The Gospels are believed to be the verbatim words of God, they are supposed to be dictated by the Holy Spirit to the Disciples who wrote them. If the source were the same, why shouldn’t they correspond with each other in reporting such an important event? 41. How could Matthew, Mark, Luke and John be considered eyewitnesses of resurrection when the Bible implies that nobody at all saw Jesus coming out of the tomb? Why do the Christians call those books of the Old Testament “God’s Word” when the revisers of the RSV Bible say that some of the authors are unknown? They say that the author of Samuel is “unknown” and that of Chronicles is “Unknown, probably collected and edited by Ezra”! CONTRADICTIONS: 47. Concerning the controversial issues in the Bible, how can Christians decide by two-thirds majority what is God’s Word and what is not, as the prefaces of some Bibles say like that one of the RSV? 48. Why does Luke in his gospel report the Ascension on Easter Day, and in the Acts, in which he is recognized as the author, forty days later? 49. The genealogy of Jesus is mentioned in Matthew and Luke only. Matthew listed 26 forefathers from Joseph to David while Luke enumerated 41 forefathers. Only Joseph matches with Joseph in those two lists. Not a single other name matches! If these were inspired by God word by word, how could they be different? Some claim that one is for Mary and one is for Joseph, but where does it says Mary in those two Gospels? 50. If Moses wrote the first books of the Old Testament, how could Moses write his own obituary? Moses died in the fifth book at age 120 as mentioned in Deut. 34:5-10. 51. In the King James Version, why does it report seven years of famine in II Samuel 24:13 while it reports three years of famine in I Chronicles 21:12? Why did they change both to three years in the New International Version and other versions? 52. Still In the same King James Version, why does it say that Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign in II Chronicles 21:12, while it says eighteen years in II Kings 24:8? Why did they change in both to eighteen in the new Versions? 53. In all versions, why does it say that David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen as evidenced in II Samuel 10:18 while its says seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, in I Chronicles 19:18? 54. In all versions, why does it report two thousand baths in I Kings 7:26 while II Chronicles 4:5 reports three thousand? 55. In the King James version, why does it report that Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses in II Chronicles 9:25 while it accounts that Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses in 1 KINGS 4:26? Why did they change both to four thousand in the new versions? 56. In Genesis 1, God’s creation progresses from grass to trees to fowls, whales, cattle and creeping things and finally to man and woman. Genesis 2, however, puts the creation of man before cattle and fowl and woman subsequent to beast. How can this be explained? QUR’AN AND CHRISTIANS This section does not inquire or interrogate, but rather provides the reader with some of the Qur’anic verses that address the Christians in particular, and the People of the Scripture in general. A great portion of the Qur’an pertains to or involves the Christians and the Jews and I decided to just choose verses that are related to the topic of this manuscript. “Lo! Why disbelieve you in the revelations of Allah, when you (yourselves) bear witness to their truth? O People of the Scriptures! Why confound you truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the Truth? (Qur’an, 3: 64-71) And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the hereafter, He will be one of the losers (Qur’an, 3:85) And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, and Allah’s messenger. They slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them, and Lo! Those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain: But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise. (Qur’an, 4:157-158) O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter ought concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him, so believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not “Three”! Cease! [it is] better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as defender. The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favored angels. Whosoever scorns His service and is proud, all such will assemble unto Him. Then, as for those who believed and did good works, unto them will He give them their wages in full, adding unto them of His bounty; and as for those who were scornful and proud, then He will punish with a painful doom.” (Qur’an, 4:171-173) “And with those who say Lo! We are Christians, We made a covenant, but they forgot a part of that whereof they were admonished. Therefore We have stirred up enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork. O People of the Scripture! Now has our messenger come unto you, expounding unto you much of that which you used to hide in the Scripture, and forgiving much. Now has come unto light from Allah and plain scripture: Whereby Allah guides him who seeks His good pleasure unto paths of peace, He brings them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guides them unto a Straight Path. They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then can do aught against Allah if he had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? Allah’s is the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what he wills. And Allah is able to do all things. I witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when You took me, You were the Watcher over them. You are witness over all things. If You punish them, Lo! They are Your slaves, and if you forgive them (Lo! They are Your slaves). Lo! You, only you are the Mighty, the Wise. Allah says: This is a day in which their truthfulness profits the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure forever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph. (Qur’an, 5:116-119) “And the Jews say: ‘Uzair [Ezra] is the son of Allah’, and the Christians say: ‘The Messiah is the son of Allah’. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah fights against them. How perverse they are! They have taken as Lord besides Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no God save Him. Be He glorified from all that they ascribe as partners (unto him)! Faint would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah disdains (aught) save that He shall perfect His light, however much the disbelievers are averse. He it is Who has sent His messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth, to cause it to prevail over all religions, however much the idolaters may be averse. O you who believe! Lo! many of the [Jewish] rabbis and the [Christian] monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar [people] from the way of Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, unto them give tidings [O Muhammad] of a painful doom. On the Day when it will [all] be heated in the fire of Hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith [and it will be said unto them]: Here is that which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard.” (Qur’an, 9:30-35) MUHAMMAD OR JESUS? Christians claim that the prophecy in Deut. 18:18 refers to Jesus and not Muhammad. The verse says: “I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” The only reason they resort to such interpretation is that both Moses and Jesus were prophets. Even this one contradicts their claim that Jesus was God and not a Prophet. Many prophets of the Jews had the similarity with Moses. However, if we compare Muhammad to Moses, we will find that: Muhammad was an Arab, and the Arabs are from Ishmael, son of Abraham, while Moses was a Jew, and the Jews are from Isaac, son of Abraham. Hence, the term THEIR BRETHREN refers to the children of the first son being brethren of the children of the other. This couldn’t apply to Jesus, since he was a Jew. * According to the Christians, Jesus went to Hell for three days while Moses did not. Therefore, Jesus is not like Moses (In Islam, none of the three Prophets went to Hell). * Moses and Muhammad were born to fathers and mothers while Jesus was born to a mother alone. * Moses and Muhammad got married and had children, while Jesus did not marry at all. * Moses and Muhammad got problems and difficulties from their people initially, but were accepted by them at the end., whereas Jesus was rejected by his people at the start and is still rejected by the Jews until today. “He (Jesus) came unto his own, but his own received him not”.( John 1:11) * Moses and Muhammad had power, besides being prophets. They both performed some capital punishments, for example, while Jesus had no power over his people. “My kingdom is not of this world”, Jesus said in John 18:36. * Moses and Muhammad brought new laws while Jesus did not. * Moses was forced to emigrate in adulthood to Median while Muhammad was forced to emigrate at that stage in his life too, towards Madinah. Whereas Jesus did not have such forced emigration in his adulthood. * Moses and Muhammad both died of natural deaths after which they were buried, while the same could not be said of Jesus. He was neither killed nor crucified at all, according to the Qur’an and did not die a “natural” death as could be affirmed by Christians who believe in Crucifixion. FINAL QUESTIONS: 57. *Faith Under Fire Christian believers executed in North Korea* 'Refusal to worship Kim Jong-il, being caught worshiping God brings harsh Posted: January 21, 2007 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Michael Ireland Assist News Service Reports about four Christians being executed for their faith in North Korea are circulating in the Christian media. According to Mark Kelly of Baptist Press: "The Democratic People's Republic of North Korea is well-known as a country where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Because the government there keeps a tight lid on communication, however, only rarely does specific information leak out." Quoting the World Bible Translation Center's Gary Bishop in a conversation with Mission Network News, Kelly reports that one man who worked as an evangelist was executed after being caught with two Korean New Testaments in his possession. Bishop says North Korean Christians are becoming increasingly uneasy about possessing a Bible. He said: "A man that's known to be an evangelist. He's probably not an evangelist to anyone other than his family members, but he was caught with two of our Korean New Testaments in his possession and he was executed for that." Kelly writes that Bishop also told Mission Network News: "A woman and her grandmother were washing clothes when a New Testament fell out of the woman's clothing. Somebody reported it, and both she and her grandmother were quickly executed. And an army general who had become a believer was caught evangelizing men in his unit and was executed by a fellow officer." Kelly says Bishop told MNN that despite the oppression – or perhaps because of it – God seems to be working. Bishop said: "In response to a very, very oppressive government (and) human injustices, people are looking for an answer other than their own government. And, I believe that's awakening the resilience of believers in North Korea to say, 'We have another answer. There is another way to believe.'" MNN reports that thousands of North Korean Christians have been killed for their faith. Many more are in work camps. According to Bishop, there's no sign of the persecution easing any. "What you have is a leader who is proclaiming himself to be god. It's prescribed that they daily worship him. And, refusal to do that and being caught worshiping God just brings that kind of governmental response. And, as best we can tell, the tempo of that is not lessening." Bishop says it's obvious what that increasing pressure on Christians is doing to Bible smuggling. "It becomes more and more difficult to get a person to risk their life to carry those in to North Korea." With rivers frozen, it's a prefect time to smuggle Bibles into the country. While persecution continues, World Bible Translation Center has no intention of stopping the flow of Bibles into the country. Report from United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Religious freedom remains essentially non-existent in North Korea, where the government has a policy of actively discriminating against religious believers, says the USCIRF. The group states: "The North Korean state severely represses public and private religious activities. The Commission has received reports that officials have arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and sometimes executed North Korean citizens who were found to have ties with overseas Christian evangelical groups operating across the border in China, as well as those who engaged in unauthorized religious activities such as public religious expression and persuasion. Although access to updated information about North Korea remains limited, by all accounts, including according to testimony delivered at the Commission's hearing on North Korea in January 2002, there has not been any improvement in the conditions for religious freedom in the past year." In recent years, the USICRF says, the government has formed several religious organizations that it controls for the purpose of severely restricting religious activities in the country. For example, the Korean Buddhist Federation prohibits Buddhist monks from worshiping at North Korean temples. Most of the remaining temples that have escaped government destruction since the Korean War are regarded as cultural relics rather than religious sites. Similarly, the Korean Christian Federation restricts Christian activities. Following the reported wholesale destruction of over 1,500 churches during Kim Il-sung's reign (1948-1994), two Protestant churches and a Roman Catholic church, without a priest, opened in Pyongyang in 1988, even though the absence of a priest for Roman Catholics means that Mass cannot be celebrated and most sacraments cannot be performed. Several foreign residents have reported that they regularly attend services at these churches and that it is clear that whatever public religious activity exists, such as services at these churches, is staged for their benefit. The USICRF reports: "Persons found carrying Bibles in public or distributing religious literature, or engaging in unauthorized religious activities such as public religious expression and persuasion are arrested and imprisoned. There continue to be reports of torture and execution of religious believers. I am running Windows XP Pro, and for the past few days, I have had a strange version of services.exe running at startup. It looks to me like some sort of threat, and I cannot disable it. Here is what I've found so far: 1. The file is located in the C:\Windows folder, not the C:\Windows\System32 folder where the legitimate Microsoft version of services.exe is located. 2. It is marked as a system file. 3. Norton A/V full system scan run twice and no viruses were discovered. Virus definitions are current. 4. Full system scan ran with both Spybot and Ad-Aware , no adware/spyware/malware found. Definitions up to date. 5. Security Task Manager (by Neuber Software) finds this file to be a threat. It appears to be trying to reach a website on the net: http//badmental3.netfirms.com/bad.gif, and then Microsoft.com. This first site does not exist. 6.
